Carla Diogo Aw23 launch Event

AN EVENING Hosted by Carla Diogo and Hamlin & Hive.

On Thursday the 2nd of November, we hosted the launch of my AW23 sustainable womenswear collection, designed and handmade in my Bristol studio. The event took place at the Native Vine on church road in Bristol. For those who know, its a beautiful wine bar which was perfect for the occasion. The drinks and delicious canapes were enjoyed, and I am now wishing I had eaten more of them, they were sooo good.

I was interviewed by Jamilla Ives founder of Fashion Praxis to speak about the new pieces, the inspiration behind it and all things sustainability. I must say I was anxious about this, mainly because I feel I’m better at sewing than I am at public speaking, I started off quite nervously but soon managed to string a few sentences together. Thank you Jamilla for helping to put me at ease.

There was music throughout the night from D.J Fabia who created a great ambiance while guests mingled and took a closer look at the AW23 collection on the rail. I’m so used to working alone most of the time and mainly seeing Sofia my Studio Assistant from time to time so having a room full of people trying on the items and seeing the pieces in real life and not via a screen was quite magical. A few guests had arrived wearing their favourite Carla Diogo pieces from previous solo releases which made the night extra special.

The night before the launch I was still making the 40 scrunchies for the goodie bags. But the event all came together with the great help I had from Allison Parkes who provided excellent PR and arranged an interview with Ellie Pipe from Bristol24/7. It’s quite daunting talking on the spot, but it actually helped me later on with my interview with Jamilla.

I’m still buzzing about it all, this is only the beginning!!
